Stockholm is Sweden's largest healthcare job market with Karolinska, Södersjukhuset, S:t Görans and Danderyd as focal points, plus a broad private sector ranging from specialist clinics to digital care providers. Commuting across the county is common — commuter trains and metro reach most workplaces, but travel times vary considerably between inner city and suburbs. Roles exist in virtually every specialty, making Stockholm a natural starting point if you want to try multiple workplaces within the same profession.

Commuting to Linköping is common, taking about 25–40 minutes by train, meaning many combine housing and work between the cities. Private primary care is well developed in central Norrköping. The city is a reasonable alternative for those wanting hospital-adjacent work without moving to a university city.
